This position will work in the Research and Development department to specify, design, and implement new products for the Power Connector / Grounding Solutions product line. This position will work with the engineering, product management, marketing and sales groups to understand customer requirements, develop innovative solutions and implement the solutions into our chosen vertical markets (service provider and enterprise).

Job Requirements
Expert in Telecommunications equipment (switches, routers, optical transport, etc.) grounding requirements for both the Central Office and Enterprise (Data Center) environments
Expert knowledge of complete grounding infrastructure including installation and test practices in the environments listed above.
From a theoretical position, sound understanding of grounding's contribution to proper equipment performance (and it's damaging effects if executed improperly) and the ability to translate that understanding into best-in-class grounding systems and innovative new product designs.
Knows and uses specs such as: NEC, J-STD-607-A, BICSI TDM manual, GR-1275-Core, GR-1089-Core, TR-NWT-000295, NFPA780, ANSI I.313-1997, ANSI/TIA/EIA 222-F
Must also have good theory background in grounding (high frequency grounds, etc)
Seeks out and seizes opportunities, goes beyond the call of duty, finds ways to surmount barriers
Must be able to identify significant problems and opportunities
Must be able to generate new/creative approaches to problems or original modifications to established approaches

EMC Engineer - National Instruments

As an EMC Engineer at National Instruments (NI) in Austin, Texas, you
are responsible for ensuring our products are designed and tested to verify
compliance with worldwide EMC requirements.  Working as part of the
design team you are involved in product development from conception through
final release, ensuring that EMC compliance is designed-in.  You work with
development engineering teams on EMC issues at the PCB and system level,
and analyze test results with diagnosis of problems to recommend
effective solutions. Candidate will establish EMC test plans, coordinate testing,
solve EMC issues and generate reports on EMC compliance.

Requirements: The position requires a B.S. in an electrical engineering
or science degree with 2 - 5 years EMC design experience. Candidate must
have PCB level EMC design experience and the ability to work effectively with
minimum assistance. Excellent communications and organizational skills
are essential. NARTE certified preferred.

* Bachelors in Engineering plus 2 years of EMC or related electrical engineering experience or MSEE degree plus 1 year of EMC related practical training experience
* Prior EMC and SAR design experience with wireless handsets is a plus
* Knowledge or prior experience in antenna is also desired
* Knowledge of electromagnetic theory and EMC design processes
* Ability to use measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzer, power meter, network analyzer and to analyze test data
* Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation software

SUMMARY
EMI / EMC / Telecom-Wireless Test Engineer for client electronics systems undergoing evaluation in a test laboratory. Candidate will perform compliance testing per national and international standards [CE, VCCI, IC, ANZUS, BSMI, ETSI, FCC, MIL-STD, etc..], will evaluate system design concepts, and will write system EMI / EMC / Telecom final test reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

•  Coordinate EMC / Wireless group for Resources Manager
•  Verification of technical test reports from the EMC / Wireless group
•  Participation in Nemko's Result Driven Management program
•  Review and evaluate technical EMI/EMC/Telecom requirements from customer.
•  Understand, interpret and tailor EMI/EMC/Telecom specs and test methods.
•  Perform various EMI analyses in support of system compatibility.
•  Must have familiarity with EMI design concepts, PCB layout techniques and grounding/shielding implementation practices.
•  Interface with client engineers in a team environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's or Bachelor's degree (A. Sc. or B. Sc.) in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related area from college, university or technical school with a min. two years related experience in EMI/EMC qualification testing. Equivalent employment experience will be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and / or governmental regulations. Ability to write EMI/EMC/Telecom technical reports (using MS Word) that are submitted to cognizant authorities and clients. Possess the ability to present information concisely and effectively and to respond to questions from authorities and clients.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the normal activities in a test laboratory. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and move test objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

EMC Engineer

As a member of Kimball Electronics Groups' global design services team
you will plan, coordinate and lead all EMI/EMC design and testing required
of a medical device or tier 2 automotive electronics supplier.

Responsibilities:
-  Review customer product requirements and create EMI/EMC test plans,
or review a pre-existing test plans, and work with customers to achieve
mutually agreeable test plans and strategies.
-  Assess test equipment needs and design or specify equipment needed to
test in accordance to customer and industry standards/requirements.
-  Build EMI/EMC test load boxes and equipment, and/or work with test

EMC Contractor -United Technologies Electronics Controls (UTEC), Huntington, IN

Temporary (contractor) employee needed to support design and testing of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) controls related to EMC/EMI issues. Coordinate and manage the work of other technical personnel (engineers, technicians). Provide guidance and training for printed circuit board design and layout. Audit current test set-ups and equipment and make recommendations for improvement. Assist in the design for test process for all EMC testing (EMI/RFI, EFT/B, ESD, transient surge, power quality).

Analyze test data and resolve EMC technical issues. Review test specifications. Review and respond to requests for quotes. Develop product test plans and identify and procure test equipment. Interface with internal and external design teams and customers. Develop EMC guidelines and procedures. Participate in design reviews. Support lab accreditation efforts. Estimated 6 months to one year assignment with possibility of being hired as a permanent employee at a later date.

General requirements

Bachelor degree in Engineering required, Masters degree in Engineering preferred, Minimum of 5 years of experience in EMC design and test.
Knowledge of HVAC control electronics a plus. Strong computer and communication skills required.

EMC Systems Engineers

Mid-level systems engineer to support Navy Electromagnetic Environmental Effects and Spectrum Supportability programs. Ideal candidate will have acquisition and/or T&E E3 experience, preferably with some military operational background, in the 10 to 20 year range. Electromagnetic compatibility design or test experience would be helpful but not explicitly necessary. Acquisition management experience desired (e.g. supporting a DoD program office), policy development a plus and joint staff support even better. Engineering
Degree desired but not required, more dependant on experience. Work is customer site based in the Arlington, VA. Minimal travel required.
